Leadership Staff
Harmony Lenasbunt (She/Her) - Owner / Director / Captain of Magic

Harmony is a 20 year veteran of the camping industry. She created Camp Makerie in 2014 (then Master Builder Camp), so that creative kids in Gainesville could have a safe and special place to go each summer to find their people: the weird, wacky, wild creatives. She loves co-creating this magical world with kids each summer, building ridiculous projects together, and watching campers become kind, confident, and resilient people together. In her youth, Harmony trained for 10 years with an incredible ACA accredited summer camp for kids with medical needs and earned a Masters degree in Education and Counseling. With these tools, she designed specialized camper programming and staff training targeted to support positive character growth and confidence in kids. When not in marshmallow fights at camp, Harmony can be found working on her own art practice of sculpture and painting, as well as hanging with her 3 boys and 2 french bull dogs.
Liz Rosema - (She/They) Assistant Director / Head Imaginator

Liz loves to build things and is in charge of projects here at camp as well as helping Harmony keep this ship sailing. She has been teaching various STEAM related subjects for over ten years, and has expertise in various and bizarrely relevant subjects to this camp such as Lego, cartooning and cardboard building tools and techniques. Every year she is most excited to see what amazing things our campers will come up with and the community that our counselors and campers build together.
Summer Staff
We believe that our program is only as good as the people we put in place to help run it, and we take that responsibility very seriously as we put our Makerie Team together each summer. We only employ people who find joy in working with kids, and use our team-based work environment to support and push each other to be the best we can for our campers, every day. All our staff are 18+ years old (most between ages of 22-28) and come from primarily education, theater, psychology, and childcare backgrounds. Staff are all Level 2 background checked, First Aid and CPR certified, and complete a 40 hour training prior to camp start covering a wide range of relevant topics like: Safety in Summer Camp Setting, Emergency procedures and drills, Sexual Abuse Prevention, Working With Special Needs Campers, Duty of Care, Group Management, Emotional Regulation, Leadership Style, Child Development, Success Counseling, Social Emotional Learning for Problem Solving, and Team Building. Staff receive further 1-1 coaching all summer, 2 Evaluations, and a mid-summer training to ensure we continuously meet the highest quality standards that we can.
